Prem Kumar all set to become Speaker of Bihar Assembly

Patna, Dec 1(UNI) Veteran BJP leader and former Bihar Minister Prem Kumar is all set to become Speaker of Bihar Assembly.
Kumar filed his nomination paper before the Secretary of Bihar Assembly as consensus candidate of NDA constituents comprising BJP, JD(U), LJP(RV), HAM and RLM.
Opposition Grand Alliance has decided not to field its candidate for the post of Speaker.
Kumar is the lone candidate in the fray for Speaker. Formal announcement declaring Kumar as elected unopposed to the post of Speaker, would be made on December 2 in the House.

Kumar, after filing his nomination paper for the post of Speaker, told media persons that he was grateful to his party BJP and its allies in NDA for making him consensus candidate for the post of Speaker.
In his long career, he had the privilege to elected from Gaya Town seat on nine occasions, he added.

"I was also given opportunity to serve as Minister of ten different departments," BJP leader said and congratulated all newly elected MLAs. Those left out would be administered oath tommorow, he added.

Most of Ministers and other MLAs were administered oath by the protem Speaker. Those left out would take oath tomorrow.

NDA has strength of 202 in 243 member Bihar Assembly. Grand Alliance has only 35 members in the House.Grand Alliance has decided not to field its candidate for the post of Speaker, as it has no strength to challenge the candidate fielded by NDA for top post of the House.
